Volunteer & STaff Training

Since the onset of COVID-19, senior-serving organizations have faced many new challenges. While previously, many organization-supporting activities could be carried out with volunteers in person, this type of programming was either no longer possible or very limited in scope. Connected Canadians has come alongside senior-serving organizations to help innovate new ways to reduce senior isolation and facilitate social engagement with surrounding communities. Now that restrictions have lessened, there are still many ways that technology mentorship training can still be very beneficial for organizational staff and volunteers.

To help staff and volunteers connect virtually with seniors in their communities, Connected Canadians now offers a mentor training program to train existing volunteers and staff as Connected Canadians Technology Mentors. Participants are equipped with digital mentoring best practices, including our online security module. Besides the online training sessions, each mentor candidate must successfully complete both a security assessment and practical assessment to receive the Connected Canadians Remote Mentor Training completion certificate. Mentors are also given access to the Connected Canadians online Slack community to receive additional support as needed.

The volunteer training program can also be customized to suit hybrid volunteers.
